5 Handstand push-ups
10 Pistols
AMRAP in 20 min.
OK I LOVE LOVE LOVE me my Vibram Five Fingers Bikila running shoes. It goes against logic that LESS cushioning would lead to some amazing results- namely faster times, no more shin splints or stress fractures, bone scans blah blah blah...
But these babies are in for some serious competition from the latest from Vibram and New Balance- the Minimus Trail WT 10:
The ones in the pic are the ladies version but they also have the mens which comes in a snazzy yellow and black or burnt orange and black.
These give me a run that is pretty close to a barefoot experience, providing a neutral foot position and I can feel the road well but still have a bit of protection.
Also they are super light at under 8.5 ounces so are a great travel shoe. I was able to bend them and squeeze them into a small bag during some recent traveling that I did and so they took up minimal space.
Plus they wash and dry easy so you could really clean in a sink and dry in a bathroom overnight if you needed to.
Verdict? A definite YES. If you have gone minimal then consider these as a great alternative to the VFF. Similar but different and I would have a hard time deciding which is my favorite.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Highly flexible midsole
- Vibram outsole
- Mesh Upper
- Anti-microbial
Speaking of anti-microbial. I have to admit that I have the Vibram Five Finger Funk. Yes. That smell is me. Or WAS until I found this handy dandy guide to cleaning and de-funking your VFFs.
I soaked them for a few hours in some warm water and effervescent denture tabs and voila. Minty fresh.
Warning: If you are considering going minimal please don't buy a pair then head out for a 5 miler. OUCH! You have to work up to it. Check out www.birthdayshoes.com for everything you ever wanted to know and more about this great way to run.
